PRACTICAL PC GUIDE
Smoother frames.
Fewer compromises.
Tune your graphics, free up system resources, and take care of cooling. These practical steps can help make gaming more comfortable on your PC.
Start with settings ↗Results depend on the game, your hardware, and the cause of the slowdown.

FPS ISN'T THE WHOLE STORYConsistent frame times often matter more than a short performance spike.
↘ FROM SIMPLE TO ADVANCED
Four steps to smoother gameplay
Change one setting at a time.
Compare results in the same scene.
GAME SETTINGS01
Start with graphics
Choose a low preset and compare performance in a familiar scene. Then restore visual quality one setting at a time to find the right balance between clarity and smooth gameplay.
- Reduce shadow, reflection, and volumetric effect quality first.
- Turn off ray tracing when it is available and performance is still too low.
- If that is not enough, lower the resolution or render scale. The image may look less sharp.
BEFORE YOU PLAY02
Free up system resources
Close browser tabs, video players, and other apps you are not using. This can make a noticeable difference on systems with limited memory.
- Check CPU and memory usage in Task Manager.
- Close only apps you recognize and leave system processes alone.
- Use the original or a compatible power adapter and keep your laptop on a firm surface.
PC CARE03
Clear the dust. Restore airflow
Dust on filters and air vents restricts cooling. If components overheat and reduce their clock speed, games can become less responsive and consistent.
- Shut the computer down, unplug it, and let it cool before cleaning.
- Clean accessible filters and vents according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use compressed air in short bursts.
- Never open a power supply. Laptop disassembly and internal battery work are best left to a qualified technician.
COOLING04
Check thermal paste when needed
Thermal paste transfers heat from the processor to its cooler. Replacing it makes sense during cooling system maintenance, but it is not a guaranteed way to gain more frames.
- Check for dust, confirm that the fans work, and make sure the cooler is mounted correctly first.
- Whenever you remove a cooler, renew the thermal interface according to its manufacturer's instructions.
- If overheating continues or you are not comfortable taking the system apart, contact a repair professional. There is no universal replacement schedule.
Do low settings guarantee high FPS?+
No. Lowering graphics may have little effect when a game is limited by processor performance, memory capacity, or another bottleneck. Compare the result after each change.
Should I limit the frame rate?+
If FPS varies widely, try the game's built-in limiter at a level your computer can maintain most of the time. This may make performance feel steadier, although it will not increase the maximum frame rate.
Will cleaning and new thermal paste always improve FPS?+
They help with cooling. Performance may improve if overheating previously caused the components to slow down. A healthy system that already runs at safe temperatures may show no FPS difference.
How should I compare performance before and after?+
Use the game's built-in FPS counter or benchmark when available. Test the same scene for the same amount of time, let the computer warm up, and repeat the measurement. Watch for stutters as well as the average FPS.
